MIKAYLA ROTH, M.A., CCC-SLP
Clinical Director|Speech Therapist
Miss Mikayla is a proud Jefferson County resident with deep ties to her community. A Festus native, she grew up in the area, attending the Festus School District, and now resides in Crystal City. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Southeast Missouri State University.
After graduating, Mikayla returned to her roots at Festus Elementary School, where she launched her career providing essential services to children. Since 2024, she has been a valued member of the Freedom of Speech team, bringing her expertise and passion to a diverse range of clients across various age groups. Mikayla’s specialized focus lies in working with children, particularly those from birth to age three, as a Missouri First Steps provider. Since joining the team, Mikayla has been promoted to Clinical Director, where she continues to lead with a commitment to excellence and innovation in patient care.
Her dedication goes beyond treatment—Mikayla is passionate about empowering families by offering education and resources, ensuring they have the support they need throughout their journey.
Outside of her professional life, Mikayla enjoys spending time with her husband and their Goldendoodle, Rachel. Her devotion to her community and her patients underscores her role as a compassionate and dedicated leader in the field of communication sciences and disorders.

MEGAN PALMER, OTR/L
Department Supervisor|Occupational Therapist
Miss Megan is a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist with a passion for helping children achieve independence and thrive in all aspects of life. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2021 and her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Maryville University in 2024.
Megan’s clinical experience spans both school and hospital settings, where she has developed a strong ability to create tailored therapeutic interventions. In the school system, she played an essential role in designing and establishing a sensory room to support students' sensory needs, while also working directly with students to enhance their physical and cognitive development. Her hospital experience has allowed her to support children with a wide range of therapeutic needs.
Since joining Freedom of Speech Therapy in April 2024, Megan has taken on the role of Supervisor of the Occupational Therapy Department. In this capacity, she oversees day-to-day operations, provides mentorship to her colleagues, and ensures the highest standards of care are met for every child. Megan remains deeply committed to helping children develop the skills they need to build confidence, independence, and overall well-being.
Originally from Farmington and now living in Bonne Terre, Megan enjoys spending her free time with her family, friends, and dog. She also loves reading, exploring the outdoors, and making lasting memories with loved ones. Megan is dedicated to creating positive, long-lasting impacts in the lives of children and their families.

NICOLE CAGLE, PT, DPT
Department Supervisor|Physical Therapist
Miss Nicole is a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist with a strong passion for helping children reach their fullest potential. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2018 and has since gained extensive experience working with children of all ages across various settings, including clinics, schools, and home health care.
Nicole has worked with a diverse range of childhood diagnoses, including Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, and developmental delays. Her expertise in treating and supporting children with these and other conditions allows her to provide individualized, effective care that enhances mobility, function, and overall well-being.
Since joining the Freedom of Speech Therapy team, Nicole has excelled in her leadership role as the Supervisor of the Physical Therapy Department. In this capacity, she oversees the department’s operations, mentors other therapists, and ensures that children and families receive the highest standard of care.
Residing in Festus, Missouri, Nicole lives with her husband, two-year-old son, and two beloved cats. Her commitment to providing personalized care and empowering both children and their families to thrive defines her as an exceptional leader in her field.
